What is a Montessori Education?
Montessori is “child-based learning:” The child’s particular developmental stage directly dictates what he or she gravitates toward in his or her learning environment. When the child regularly receives lessons that are uniquely designed to meet his or her developmental stage, the learning that takes place shapes that child’s personality and guides him in his journey of “self-creation.”
While independent studies show that Montessori students perform academically as well or better than students of more traditional methods, it is their ability to pursue what most enriches them combined with their thirst for that knowledge that creates well-adjusted young people; these students are then prepared with the skills and desire to be part of our society in a meaningful way.
"The needs of mankind are universal. Our means of meeting them create the richness and diversity of the planet. The Montessori child will come to relish the texture of that diversity."
