Carpool

Between 8:15-8:30 a.m. Arbor’s parking lot is for carpool traffic only from 8:15-8:30am. During drop-off, please stay in your vehicle. Staff members will be on hand to open car doors and help children to their classrooms. Please use the Masonic Lodge parking lot if you plan to leave/return to your vehicle. This means there should be no pedestrian traffic in the Arbor lot during carpool time (8:15-8:30am). We need all parents to heed these requests for the safety of all concerned.

Lunch/Snack

A daily snack is provided in all classrooms during the morning. The all-day primary class also provides a light breakfast and a second snack in the afternoon. Children who stay for a full school day bring their own lunch each day. We encourage parents to involve the young child in the process of shopping, preparing and packing a healthy meal with out sugary treats and drinks. Very young children are eager to help, and with practice will be ready to take their responsibility seriously at the elementary level. We have found that when lunch becomes the child’s responsibility, he or she is motivated to eat it as well as remember to bring it each day, because they consider it truly theirs. Try to resist the temptation to bring the lunch that he or she has prepared.

Supplies

All the primary and lower elementary lessons are taught using an array of beautiful Montessori materials. These are provided by the teachers and remain in the classroom. At the upper elementary and middle school levels, all books are provided by the school; parents are asked to purchase minimal supplies such as notebooks and pencils.

Hours

The main office at the LaVista campus is open Monday-Friday from 8am to 4pm all year. The office is not open during the winter holidays or over Thanksgiving or Spring breaks. The office is open on teacher work days, but not on days when Holiday Camp is available. The Development office and the office of the Director of Communication are open from 8am-3pm Monday-Thursday with limited hours during the summer.
